Planes, Automobiles and Satellites

While policies often vary slightly from one provider to the next, there are general commonalities when it comes to your business insurance. Massachusetts insurers provide coverage for any hazard that is listed in your policy, and these can range from the usual to the distinctly unexpected.

Some of the less common disasters that your business may be covered for include damage from an aircraft, a vehicle or a falling object. Should a plane crash into your business premises, or a car, truck or other vehicle collide with a fence or wall, you will generally be covered for damage to your property and business possessions. While a falling object may seem a strange threat to have listed, this might include anything from a piece of machinery that has fallen from a crane, to space debris.

While the likelihood of being hit by a plane, automobile and especially satellite may be remote, the point to note with any insurance policy is that it is designed to provide a safeguard for sudden and unexpected disasters. That these sorts of perils are included indicates others may have had use for these insurance safeguards.

As a business owner, it’s important that you are very aware of the conditions of your insurance policies. Read every contract line by line to be clear on precisely what you are covered for with your business insurance. Massachusetts business owners might not be hit by an aircraft or satellite every day but as with any disaster, it’s good to be prepared.
